Heddwch a Chyfiawnder Bangor & Ynys Môn Peace and Justice
Cofnodion / Minutes - 13 February 2017
Because of the Half Term holiday, the next meeting of the group will be on Monday 27 February at 6.30pm in the Friends’ Meeting House, Dean Street, Bangor LL57 1UR.
In place of the meeting there is on 20 February a demonstration at Bangor Clock 18.00-19.00 Stand up to Trump!
1 Feedback on Anti Wylfa stall held last Saturday. Leaflets distributed with key arguments against Wylfa and information about the anti-nuclear conference in Aberytswyth on Saturday 11 March commemorating the disaster at Fukushima. Interesting discussions held with passers-by, very little opposition.
PAWB are very grateful to members of the Green Party who supported the stall, including the Deputy Leader of the Greens Amelia Womack. Further cooperation between the organisations is planned. We also thanked the Greens for organising and paying for a bus down to Aberystwyth (donations on bus). To register and join bus see link on Dates section below.
See following on Fukushima.
The group discussed a very informative article Reading the Future of the West Bank in its Contours by Sarah Helm, Guardian Monday 13 February https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/feb/13/west-bank-east-jerusalem-israel .The political situation on the West Bank is interpreted through the eyes of a Palestinian cartographer. He states that it is too late now for a two-state solution. (Perhaps Donald Trump has read this article - joke).
Linda suggested that we invite Alice Grey, Ben Alofs, John Butler and other interested parties to a discussion with the group about best tactics given the present circumstances.
3 Heddwch and CND Cymru
We distributed the latest edition of Heddwch and agreed to donate £50 to CND Cymru.

The car companies conned us all. They’ve been selling us diesel vehicles that they claimed were the “green” choice.
But they lied. They manipulated emissions tests and sold us diesel cars that emit far more toxic fumes than they are supposed to. As a result, they have made air pollution worse.

Plastic is everywhere in our daily lives.
I'm writing this on a computer with plastic parts, using a
plastic keyboard powered through a plastic plug. You'll be reading this
on something similar, or maybe on a plastic mobile phone.
Suggesting that people stop using plastic bank cards, plugs, contact lenses, medicine casings, biros, asthma inhalers, £5 notes or plasters (to…

After 5 weeks of campaigning, HSBC have just said that they'll stop funding rainforest destruction.
