Every year, an estimated 88 million tonnes of food is wasted across EU countries.
Meanwhile, 1 in 9 people worldwide struggle to find enough food to lead a healthy life. This is a scandal.
We need your voice to stop this outrageous inequality.
Next week, European Parliament will vote on whether to halve food waste by 2030 - click here to sign the petition calling for this historic agreement.
Sadly, food waste also has a profoundly damaging effect on our planet. Globally, if food waste were a country it would be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the US. It’s absurd.
Right now, we’re at a pivotal moment. On Tuesday, Members of European Parliament will decide whether to support an agreement to tackle this scandal - and if EU countries should be legally obliged to comply with targets set.
If passed into law, this could be the most ambitious agreement on food waste the world has ever seen. And if passed soon, it could also end up in UK law before our country leaves the EU - and make it much harder for the government to backtrack on this target.
Sign the petition calling on the EU to reduce food waste by 50% before 2030 - and for this target to be legally binding.

After 5 weeks of campaigning, HSBC have just said that they'll stop funding rainforest destruction. It's amazing - but it's also an amazing opportunity to make sure other banks start cleaning up their act too. When our friends or peers do something good, it can often make us feel the pressure to do the same thing - and these banks reputations…read more
